Front Porch Cafe Thanksgiving

Last night the Front Porch Cafe welcomed Project HOPE and its guests for a Thanksgiving feast. Hoban families, faculty and staff provided fantastic Thanksgiving dishes that filled the bellies of all in attendance. Hoban students provided the musical entertainment, which proved to be delightful, and Hoban volunteers helped with food preparation and serving the guests.

Special Outstanding Organizer and Trooper Awards go out to Mrs. Frye, Mr. Fahey, Dr. and Mr. Beiting, Mrs. Dyrlund, Mr. Donatelli, Mrs. and Mr. Starkey, Mr. Hottinger, Ms Haubert, Mrs. Veverka, Mrs. Cox, TK, Mrs. Braman, Mrs. Davey, and Ms. Marzick. Wow, there are no words to express the amount of help and leadership they all provided.

Promotion

Distributing fliers for our November 23 Thanks- giving Dinner was one of our grand missions tonight. Kelly and John masterfully handed out promo forms and bus schedules in an effort to build awareness about the gathering.

Next Wednesday, we won't be venturing out; rather, we're bringing all of our friends to the Front Porch Cafe on Grant Street. We'll have food and musical entertainment, and we'll try to create a couple hours of joy and hope.

Sure, we're breaking more than 2 years of tradition, but we feel the cause is greater than the pride of continuing a tradition.

We welcome any donations: food, time or money. We want to make this a grand evening, so please help in any way you can.

Windy City

We visited Mr. Lucas for the first time in many months. With the poor economy, he lost his job and is back in the camper. It was nice to see him despite the unfortunate circumstances.

Like Rapunzel, Reedy presented himself from his second story window. After a shouting match, he descended for a short gathering.

We took a walk with Vang to warm ourselves at his campfire. The warmth was a welcome comfort from the wicked wind that relentless pounded us.

Oh, and by the way, it's apparently Christmas time!

11-2-11

Project H.O.P.E. went inter- national last night to celebrate birthdays.
Jim celebrates his birthday Thursday, Nov 3 and Kevin celebrating his the Monday after.
This Weds night was an unseasonably warm November night, and they are always welcome with us. A lot of comings and goings of some friends we haven't had too much contact with lately. We saw Reggie for the first time in a while, as well as Kevin (the other Kevin). A lot to think about and be thankful for by the end of the night. A quick recovery goes out to Jim Bronco in hopes his foot heals up quick. Kevin gets to spend some time with his daughter during his birthday weekend. CJ and Kevin still holding down some temp jobs but the struggle remains. They have to wake up at 2:30am to get moving for the day. We have a lot to be thankful for as the holiday season approaches. Keep The Wednesday before Thanksgiving open in your calendars. A project H.O.P.E. Thanksgiving is coming to Akron!
